As far as rural development is concerned all the claims made by Modi government are hollow. During the past one decade the cultivated area in the state has shrunk dramatically as Narendra Modi government has forcefully acquired agriculture land. This has not only deprived the farmers of their land but actually has uprooted them on a greater scale than the much talked about Narmada Dam project.
According to a report on development-induced displacement, over four lakh household have been dislocated and uprooted in Gujarat. Similarly 33 lakh hectares of agricultural land has been acquired by the state government. This figure of displaced does not include the people who were dependent on land for their livelihood but were not owner of the land. Thus real unemployment ratio in rural Gujarat is higher than the national average. It is giving rise to evils like drug addiction and other unmentionable acts..
